Privacy policy

Last updated: [date]

This policy explains what personal data Geneva Society collects through this website, why, where it is stored, how long we keep it and how you can exercise your rights. It is based on the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP / nLPD) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

1. Who is responsible

The controller responsible for your data is: [Company name], [Street and number], [Postcode] Geneva, Switzerland. Email: contact@genevasociety.ch.

2. What data we collect

  • Member waitlist: first name, email address, and optionally your neighbourhood in Geneva and the types of places you would use most.
  • Partner form: business name, contact name, email address, category, and optionally phone number, address or area, and your message.
  • For both forms: the date and time of your sign-up and the language of the page (English or French).
  • Technical data: when you visit the website, our hosting provider processes technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the pages, protect against abuse and produce anonymous visit statistics. Your IP address is used briefly to limit repeated form submissions and is not stored with your sign-up.

We only collect the data you enter in our forms, plus a small amount of technical information.

3. Why we use it

  • Members: to inform you about the launch of Geneva Society and invite you to become a member. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Partners: to contact you about becoming a partner and to prepare a possible partnership. Legal basis: your consent and steps taken at your request before entering into an agreement.
  • Security: to keep the forms free of spam and abuse. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in a secure website.

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising by third parties.

4. Where your data is stored

  • The website is hosted by Infomaniak Network SA in Geneva, Switzerland, on servers located in Switzerland. Infomaniak processes technical data (such as IP addresses in server logs) needed to deliver the website and protect it.
  • We use Infomaniak’s built-in web statistics to understand how many people visit the website. They are produced from the server logs in Switzerland, use no cookies and give us only aggregated figures; they do not identify you.
  • Form submissions are stored in a Google Sheet operated by Google (Google Ireland Ltd. / Google LLC). Partner applications may also trigger an email notification to our team through Google.

Google may process data outside Switzerland and the EU, including in the United States. Such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards such as the Swiss–US and EU–US Data Privacy Framework and/or standard contractual clauses recognised by the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Our fonts are hosted on our own website, so no data is sent to Google Fonts.

5. How long we keep it

  • Member waitlist: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, and at the latest 12 months after the launch of Geneva Society if you have not become a member.
  • Partner applications: for as long as needed to discuss a partnership, and at the latest 24 months after our last contact if no partnership is agreed.
  • Technical data processed by our hosting provider: according to the provider’s standard retention periods, usually a few days to a few weeks.

6. Cookies

This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. No cookie banner is therefore needed.

7. Your rights

You can at any time ask us to access, correct or delete your data, object to its processing, receive a copy of it, or withdraw your consent. Every email we send also includes an unsubscribe link.

To exercise these rights, or to ask for deletion, simply email contact@genevasociety.ch. We will reply within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, www.edoeb.admin.ch) or, if you live in the EU, with your local data protection authority.

8. Changes

We may update this policy, for example when we launch the membership. The current version is always published on this page.
